On Saturday our club held its first competition tournament since the pandemic. I competed in the Senior Division 1 kata and got the gold medal, despite absolutely stuffing up Zukino and having a few wobbles in Pinan Ni due to nerves and consequently tight muscles. Apparently I did an okay Saifa, but I have no memory of that.

It was awkward because I was the only one at my level to enter. Not quite a black belt, but still beyond the lower kyu students that filled the category.

Unfortunately Alex pulled out sick at the last moment after going to Jamberoo on a school excursion the day before.

My main concern of the day was taking photos. I took over a thousand. I managed to capture a lot of action, but had problems due to the dim light and contrast. Still learning.
