Positive

It finally happened. And at one of the worst possible times. Predictably.

B and Alex are flying off to Singapore from Melbourne right at this moment. I’m stuck in Sydney with COVID, halfway through my isolation.

So far it’s been like a bad cold. Lots of phlegm and a post-nasal drip that sets me off coughing at times. Nights are the worst, having to try to sleep with my back upright, barely managing to get two hours straight without crazy thoughts and the urge to cough. Which means that I feel very tired throughout the day.

Preparations for the trip were crazy. It took ages for Qantas to refund the cancelled flights to Tokyo, but which time high school holiday fares were now outrageous. We eventually ended up booking Scoot from Melbourne, because the Victorian holidays are a week earlier. The other two drove down, with domestic fares similarly nonsensical right now.

I hope to join them once isolation is over, though I need to get better first. It’s too hard to think about it right now. Time for another nap…
